Sports Day

Sports Day Two Anthems





. Here is what we did today.
     

1 Shoulder hold.   Putting our violins in rest position we used our left hand on the underneath shoulder to put our violins in play position.
      


2. Balloon Bows to Irelands Call .  We use Down Bow retakes on D for this popular rugby song. we added some flag waving and some tremelo for a bit of added spice .
   

   3. Toreadors March  Another D and A tune . We learned how to read these notes on the stave . The notes are below. Are the notes on lines or spaces?

Rabbits and Snails

Bowhold
Today we practiced holding our violins in rest and play positions . We used We played pizzicato  on G,  D  and A  strings 

**New today**  Carrot pencils and bunny rabbit hands. Using our right hands  and pencils we practiced making snail shapes and bunny rabbit hands before biting down on our carrot pencils.

            Things to remember  Bend your thumb
            Fingers well over the pencil to make those bunny rabbit teeth

Rhapsody in Blue is a brilliant piece for piano and orchestra. Away We Go: Rest and Play Lesson one at NJS


Greedy Dinosaurs Ate Everything



We had a very exciting day at the Friends Meeting House  as all the students in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes began the new NJS String  programme .    Well done to the classes of  and Misses Miller, Long and  Connors. Super attention and concentration in the first class today!





We learned how to hold the violin in rest and play position .

*We  met three members of the bowed string family.  can you remember what they were  ( violin, C_ _ _ _  and  Viol_ ) ?

*We learned about low pitched and high pitch . What  is the lowest pitched string  on the violin. ?
*
We played pizzicato ( plucking the string on  lowest string G to a piece by Vivaldi )

We played pizz on D and A to a blues track 
*We learned the names of all four violin strings (see above)


*We practiced a bow .

pitch -whether a note is high or low.

Strings to Newtown
